Speech pathology
for Southport
families.

Identity-affirming, NDIS-registered. Telehealth across the northern Gold Coast, in-clinic at Burleigh Heads when you want to come down.

Southport is mostly a telehealth story

Most of our Southport caseload runs over telehealth — Zoom, 45 minutes, from wherever works (kitchen table, bedroom floor, car park between school and after-school activity). Telehealth speech pathology is well-established and effective for the vast majority of what we work on: autism support, gestalt language processing, AAC follow-ups, parent coaching, teen and adult work.

When in-person matters — usually for the first AAC trial, sometimes for toddler assessments, occasionally for a sticky session — we book at the Burleigh Heads clinic. Most Southport families come down once every few months at most.

Common reasons Southport families reach out

  • Recently diagnosed kid, want a clinician who isn't going to push a compliance model
  • Late-talking toddler, want to consider AAC seriously rather than "wait and see"
  • School-age kid managing at school but falling apart at home (the masking gap)
  • Teen who hated previous speech therapy, willing to try one more time on their terms
  • Late-diagnosed adult who wants to work with someone who isn't paediatric-only
  • Parents who want coaching for themselves, no kid in the room

Working with Southport schools and paediatricians

We work with schools across the Southport / Surfers / Labrador / Ashmore area and with private and public paediatric referrals. Most school consults are Zoom-based, which most learning support teams in this area are now comfortable with. We attend in person where the family wants us there.

NDIS

Speech Sprout is NDIS-registered. Self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed plans all work. NDIS pricing is national, not suburb-based. See how NDIS works at Speech Sprout.

Starting

Free 15-minute call first. We'll talk through what's going on and decide whether telehealth alone is the right shape or whether you'll want some in-clinic time at Burleigh.

Common questions

Is there a clinic in Southport?
No — our clinic is at Burleigh Heads, about 25–30 minutes south. Most Southport families work with us primarily via telehealth, with in-clinic sessions at Burleigh booked as needed and occasional in-home visits.
Does the distance to Burleigh make this harder?
Not really, because most of our work is excellent over telehealth. Families who specifically want frequent in-clinic time tend to be closer to Burleigh; Southport families typically default to telehealth and it works just as well for most goals.
Do you work with the major Southport schools?
Yes, across public, Catholic and independent. School consults are usually via Zoom — most schools in this area are very comfortable with telehealth allied health partners now.
Can you support GCUH paediatrician referrals?
Yes. If your kid has been seen by a developmental paediatrician at GCUH or privately and speech pathology has been recommended, we can pick up from there. We don't require a formal referral to start.
